The Challenge A shipyard previously used 5,000,000lbs of coal slag annually and required rust inhibitors to ensure the surfaces would remain clean prior to priming. The 10X Breakthrough When the blasting media was switched to superoxalloy abrasive, annual consumption...
The challenge: A contractor removing tough, marine-grade epoxy with garnet was experiencing long job completion times and high material costs, sapping profitability.
The challenge: A contractor preparing a tank for recoating blasted through a 50 lb. bag of copper slag 20/40 in 2 minutes and 43 seconds, removing only 5 sq. ft. of rust from the tank. The copper slag showed visible signs of embedment, potentially triggering rust bloom.
EpiX superoxalloy abrasive: Quantum leap in productivity, quality, manufactured part yield and profitability
The challenge: Asphalt milling and removal bits are submitted to extreme pressure (up to 8,000 PSI). Bits are formed from tungsten carbide and require blasting to remove a carbonized coating left over from the manufacturing process.
The challenge: 10X performed a trial at a customer’s maintenance facility comparing 10X superoxalloy to a legacy blast media. The two abrasives used were a 50 lb. bag of KinetiX 20/70 made in Wabash, Indiana, USA, and a 55 lb. bag of garnet 30/60 mined and packaged in India.
The challenge: A historical building was being renovated and converted into an apartment complex. Coal slag abrasive was being used to clean the structural surfaces on the inside of the building.
The challenge: Flash rust after blasting steel can be a major scheduling challenge and cost drain for surface preparation and painting contractors. Painters have to be ready to come in right behind blasters to make sure surfaces are coated before flash rusting starts.
The challenge: An industrial services contractor was performing a reactor maintenance turnaround project and fell behind because removal of chrome sulfur plating was too slow and, in some cases, impossible to do by blasting with crushed glass.
The challenge: A painting contractor was hired to clean, repair and recoat specialized hanger hooks coated with a thick and extremely hardened powder coat. They were forced to bake and hand-scrape the hooks to remove the coating…
Superoxalloy delivers increased working speed, decreased consumption and improved coating adhesion: Fire-protective coating
The challenge: A customer was using vapor blasting with garnet on galvanized beams to achieve a 2-3 mil profile without removing or damaging the base galvanized coating. This requires a highly skilled operator.
The challenge: A painting contractor tested 10X superoxalloy abrasive on paint racks with 250 mils of numerous coating layers from multiple paint jobs. No abrasive in their shop — including garnet, staurolite or steel grit…
The challenge: Blaster face shields become etched and damaged from abrasive rebound off the surface being blasted. Face shields often require frequent replacement because the etched surface decreases visibility and can make quality surface preparation difficult.
